RECYCLING PROCESS

Collection

BMF Africa begins the system with collection. We are partners with local organizations and companies to collect plastic bottle waste also known as feedstock. As a vital part to our recycling operation, we want to empower organizations and communities in South Africa to recycle plastic bottle waste in their local environment.

Sorting

BMF Africa then sorts out all the unsuitable waste by hand. This process takes the most man power because some of the waste we get sometimes is not recyclable and we have to make sure it doesn't go through. The rest of the plastic waste is pushed through towards crushing.

Crushing

BMF Africa then grinds the bottles down into flakes. This is the most important part of the process, because it's these small flakes that will be used to in multiple ways, including being extruded into pellets.

Washing & Drying

It's important to Africlear that every product we produce is clean and made with care. As a result we put our Flakes through a significant washing process, that cleans the flakes from any harmful contaminants and bacteria. After the washing and drying process the flakes are able to go in to many other processes forming a multitude of products.

Final Sorting & Cleaning

Finally, Africlear does one final sorting and cleaning of material before loading it into bags and delivered to customers.

RECYCLING PRODUCTS

RPET Hot-Washed Flakes

The Recycling Process creates many products that can be taken out any where in the cycle and used for different things. At our recycling plant we provide RPET Flakes (Bottle & Thermoform).

RECYCLING VISION

WHY RECYCLE?

The Value of recycling goes way beyond limiting waste. Recycling makes the whole plastics industry sustainable. What is seen as a dangerous pollutant doesn't have to be labeled as such when recycling happens. Africlear is on the forefront of fighting for that future, where we recycle the bottles we create, in this complete loop of products becoming the inputs for future products. With the Bottle to Bottle initiative, plastics can change from being a great problem to a great solution moving forward. Help us achieve the goal of a bottle to bottle economy. Learn more here...
